Dr Nick Birchall

Dr Nick Birchall - Paediatric Dermatologist

Dr Nicholas Birchall is a dermatologist in private practice as well as the Consultant Dermatologist at Auckland Starship Children's Hospital. He trained as a paediatrician (Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians) in Christchurch and Auckland then trained as dermatologist in Auckland and at Yale University in the United States. He is a member of the DermNet Development Group, the recent past President of the New Zealand Dermatological Society and was a founding director of Genesis Research and Development Corporation. Nicholas practices general, adolescent and paediatric dermatology. His practice provides the full range of skin services including surgery, laser treatments and various cosmetic procedures. His research interests include acne, eczema, psoriasis and skin cancer. He has published numerous original scientific and clinical articles in journals and textbooks.

Dr Annemarie Christie

Dr Annemarie Christie - General Practitioner

Dr Annemarie Christie is a general practitioner with a special interest in the health and wellbeing of children. She has extensive experience in paediatric medicine, previously practising as Paediatric Registrar at the Children's Hospital at Westmead and Blacktown Hospital after beginning her career at St Mary's Rydalmere. Annemarie passed the Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians exams in 2000 and continues to participate in education programs through the Children's Hospital at Westmead. Annemarie's own experiences as a mother have helped her understand the problems parents face when seeking advice regarding the health of their children.

Dr Gayle Fischer

Dr Gayle Fischer - Paediatric Dermatologist

Dr Gayle Fischer is a paediatric dermatologist who has been working with children for over 15 years, initially at the Royal Alexandra Hospital for Children at Camperdown and subsequently at The Childrens' Hospital at Westmead. She currently runs the Paediatric Dermatology Clinic at the Royal North Shore Hospital and carries out laser surgery for congenital vascular malformations at Westmead. She has written many articles on Paediatric Dermatology and is the author of the Paediatric section of Therapeutic Guidelines.

Monica Hughes

Monica Hughes - Midwife and Child & Family Health Nurse

As Nurse Educator at Karitane, Monica Hughes is responsible for the co-ordination of all research activities and in-house education. She has previously practised midwifery at Auburn District Hospital, Mater Misericordiae Hospital, Bankstown Private Hospital and Westmead Private Hospital; run a baby club and Mothers Advisory Service and Community Screening Service at the Marketplace Pharmacy, Leichhardt, and as a Registered Nurse, provided Early Childhood and Parenting Service for South Western Sydney Area Health Service.

Jann Pardo

Jann Pardo - Midwife

Jann Pardo is a midwife with almost 30 years experience in working with mothers and babies. Jann was in charge of postnatal wards for 16 years and currently works as co-ordinator of a midwifery homevisiting service, providing support in all aspects of baby care in the transition from hospital to home. She has a particular interest in the education and support of families with new babies. She sees the development of the Nappy Rash Prevention Guidelines as an opportunity to give mothers the knowledge and ability to better manage a potentially distressing condition.

Liz Moore

Liz Moore - Dermatology Nurse Consultant

Elizabeth Moore has practised as a dermatology nurse consultant at the Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne for the last five years. After completing her Bachelor of Nursing at La Trobe University, Bundoora, Elizabeth went on to attain a Diploma in Advanced Clinical Nursing in Infant, Child and Adolescent Health followed by a Master of Nursing, from the University of Melbourne. Elizabeth's recent research interests have included a comparison of nurse- and dermatologist-led clinics in the management of atopic eczema and the effects of topical corticosteroids on bone mass in children with eczema.

Dr David Orchard

Dr David Orchard - Paediatric Dermatologist

Dr David Orchard is a Paediatric Dermatologist, who after graduating in medicine at the University of Melbourne went on to become a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists in Victoria in 1998. He subsequently completed a Fellowship of Paediatric Dermatology in Denver, USA in 2000. Dr Orchard is a member of the Dermatology Department at the Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne, and has private rooms at The Royal Children's Hospital and in Kew. His specific interests include eczema, allergy testing and genodermatoses.

Dr Tushar Bhuta - Neonatologist

Dr Tushar Bhuta is currently a neonatologist at the Faculty of Medicine, The University of Sydney and was awarded a Masters in Health Administration from the University of New South Wales in 2003. His specific interests include pharmacological interventions for heterotopic ossification, high-frequency oscillatory ventilation for acute pulmonary dysfunction in preterm infants and the use of methenamine hippurate for urinary tract infections.
